Mammal

Your people have come and spoken to our leaders through your machines. You say this world is your birthplace, and that may well be. Your forms vaguely resemble the fossil records of a former advanced species on this planet. I was chosen to come and represent our people before you because I am among the most well traveled and eldest among those who tell the history of our people.

You have asked that I provide data on who and what we are, but you seem shocked to learn that with our other advancements we choose not to write our history down. Why, you keep asking and I will finally explain. For a rigid fact, a book can be written. For a casual story, it can be suspended in time like a frozen thing. History is alive. I have heard you call our telling of our history myth and if that word is translating properly, then you don't understand us at all. What I am about to tell you happened, even if it never happened exactly as described. You will learn where we came from, who we were and what we learned. There is no book that can properly explain these things to you. Listen and I trust your machines will convey the truth of my words.

Cephalopod

May your arms wrap firmly. The excitement and fear you bring are unlike any I have known. That I am chosen to flash the truth in patterns before you is a special honor. We suspected that our world was home to some ancient race of intelligent beings, but you return as proof.

I know it was asked that books be provided along with my presence, and I have made sure that every technical manual and text possible is being given over. For the nature of our past however, there is no book that can match the patterns of truth I am intent to relay. Do not flash these as stories, for they are more than mere tales. They are the soul of our people and have been carefully held to make sure none fail to understand to the center of their mantle where we came from, who we were and what we learned. Record if you must, but these things are only truly understood in the skin of the one who expresses them.

Arthropod

That you reach the senses understandably at all is strange indeed. We can forgive that you often express flavors, scents and sensations foreign to our understandings. As they click, ##### no ####! Every man, woman and ##### in the world is curious about what happens next. I am to tell you our history, though you requested it in a tactile format. This can't possibly relay the depth of a species such as our own. You ask for a "book", but there is no book. To put it into such lifeless #### would be unthinkable. I will tap where we came from, who we were and what we learned. Let it soak into your sides along with true understanding.
